bunker

Barry Penner isn’t thrilled with state of disrepair of the secret underground bunker. He keeps all of his secret underground bunkers in immaculate condition.

Barry Penner is moments away from having his podium flattened. He’s going to keep speechifying until the last second, though. He loves it that much.

“We continue on with the only carbon tax that’s wide in scope in North America,” Penner said. “We continue to lead North America in climate change.” – The Tyee

Yeah, we totally lead North America in climate change! Our climate is the changeiest! There ain’t nobody’s climate changing like OUR climate is changing!

Wait a minute here…

Isn’t climate change a BAD thing to lead in? Shouldn’t we be leading in climate de-change or un-change or something? Help me out here, Barry… I’m missing something with this one.

Unless…

Despite the drop in funding, Penner said, the government’s commitment continues. “We’re still leading on the environment,” he said… – The Tyee

That’s it!

If we are leading in climate change AND leading on the environment… then climate change is good for the environment! To think, all this time people have had it backwards. Leave it to Barry Penner to set the record straight once again!  I’m sorry I ever doubted you, Barry. Please forgive me. I’ll never do it again.

Now excuse me while I go buy a hummer. They are good for the environment now, don’t you know.

So, I was browsing around the Wall Street Journal (I’m not sure why, it seems that the publication barely covers Barry Penner at all) when I ran across this:

pennerpower

Hmmm… not bad, not bad at all. Excellent framing, good use of colour… sure, it is missing a certain something, but decent nonetheless. So, who is it that took this adequate picture?

Not content with just any old photographer, the esteemed publication acquired a picture of the Furry Creek plant near Squamish taken by none other than Environment Minister Barry Penner. – The Victoria Times Colonist

Well how about that! So, what did our lovable Environment Minister get from the Journal in exchange for this magnificent specimen of the photographic arts? Stacks of cash? A free subscription? A lovely ‘thank you’ bouquet, perhaps?

“I got a photo credit, but alas no royalties,” he said. “Perhaps that’s only because times are tough in the newspaper business.” – The Victoria Times Colonist

Why, those dirty scumbags! What kind of third rate publication takes people’s photos and doesn’t give them anything more than some measly credit? You sure are lucky that newspapers are already on the way out, WSJ, because you know Barry Penner would usually take you down for a slight like that.
