Hmmm, I know he’s in there somewhere… behind that gigantic certificate, perhaps? You know, this would be so much easier if he had a red striped shirt on.

The province is setting up a Green Energy Advisory Task Force. I’m not totally sure what they are supposed to do, but based on the name, I assume that they will be flying around the province out of their secret base defending The Environment and fighting the nefarious Fossil Fuel Man and his evil sidekick The Carbon Emissions Kid. Or perhaps not. Let’s see if Barry Penner can shed some light on it:

‘The task force groups and the new cabinet committee will help us advance our climate action goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build a greener economy that generates well-paying jobs while maintaining high environmental standards for both the permitting process and the operational phase of any project that gets built,’ said Environment Minister Barry Penner.

OOooooo, advancing climate action goals! Maintaining high environmental standards! Cool! Okay, I still have no idea what the Green Energy Advisory Task Force will be doing exactly, but that sure would look great on a bumper sticker, or a T-shirt, even! Such a mastery of the language.

So you think Barry Penner is some sort of clueless empty shirt of a minister? Oh, you silly person. Barry Penner knows all about The Environment, why else then would he be Environment Minister, hmm? Want proof? Just take a look at this:

“The ocean’s a big place, so I can understand there are a lot of unknowns. (…)” Penner said. – The Canadian Press

See, not only does he know that the ocean is big (it is), but he also knows that there are a lot of unknowns (which there are). Pretty impressive, no? What more do you want?

Just what everyone wants for Christmas: Mixed nuts and shrink-wrapped nature art.  Barry Penner is going to be such a popular guy come Christmas morning when everybody has bare walls and a hankering for something salty.

Barry Penner doesn’t quite know what’s so familiar about this picture, but somehow it really speaks to him…
