Barry Penner made a very good argument for the recycling of cellphones:

By keeping electronic goods out of landfills, we can divert waste from landfills and free up space, presumably in the same landfills? That’s why he’s the Minister of the Environment, folks. It takes a Ministerial-class mind to work out that by keeping things out of landfills we keep things out of landfills. I wonder if that only works for cellphones? Someone should look into that.
