When the choice has to be made between people and bears, Barry Penner knows which one to go with.

“It’s been said a fed bear is a dead bear,” Penner said, noting the focus of efforts is to keep bears away from people and their garbage.

“We’re teaching people how to change their behavior so bears don’t get into trouble.”

See, why bother keeping bears away from people, when you can get the people to keep away from the bears. In all fairness, it is easier to teach a bunch of people than it is to train a bunch of bears.

Berry Penner isn’t just a pretty face, he’s also a thinker. Just look at all this thinking he did on the subject of a recent wind power project:

“Out of my own curiosity, I wondered how these would rank compared to other wind-power projects in Canada,” Penner said.

“In the case of Thunder Mountain, it would be almost 50-percent larger than Canada’s next-largest wind project, which is at Wolf Island near Kingston. That one, I think, is 190 megawatts all in.

“Thunder Mountain is proposed at 320 at this stage, and NaiKun would be even more than that.”

50 percent, 190, 320… so many numbers. That’s some pretty heavy-duty math right there. Ministerial-level math, even.

When you are Barry Penner, even paying your water bill is an event worthy of ceremony. Just like buying groceries, renting a video, or getting the oil changed in your car.

Like any sane person, Barry Penner loves commemorative plaques. And of course, the best kind of commemorative plaque is the kind where you can add smaller commemorative plaques to the bottom for each year, like two commemorative plaques in one! It doesn’t even matter what it’s commemorating, just make sure you have plenty of room for more of the mini-plaques so you can commemorate for a long time to come!

Barry Penner finally gets his hands on the mythical Crystal Obelisk. Now all he has to do is shine the light of the sun through it while facing north in Cairo at noon on the equinox and he is one step closer to finding the hidden treasures of Imhotep. Off to Egypt!

I guess that other guy can come along, too.
