Penner will be acting as deputy house leader responsible for assisting the Government House Leader in all matters concerning government business in the legislature. Penner was first elected in 1996 and re-elected in 2001. He has previously served as chair of the Government Caucus Committee on Natural Resources, and as a member of the Legislature’s Standing Committee on Crown Corporations and the Cabinet Committee for Legislative Review. Penner is also B.C.’s lead representative to the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) and served as president of PNWER from June 2002 to June 2003. PENNER APPOINTED PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY

TO HOUSE LEADER

VICTORIA – Government House Leader Gary Collins announced today that Chilliwack-Kent MLA Barry Penner has been appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Government House Leader.

Penner will be acting as deputy house leader responsible for assisting the Government House Leader in all matters concerning government business in the legislature.

Penner was first elected in 1996 and re-elected in 2001. He has previously served as chair of the Government Caucus Committee on Natural Resources, and as a member of the Legislature’s Standing Committee on Crown Corporations and the Cabinet Committee for Legislative Review.
